The Homeowner's Guide To Carpet Care And Maintenance

Home & Garden Blog

When it comes to maintaining the value and comfort of your home, you would do well to focus on the cleanliness and brilliance of your carpets. By learning some of the best ways to make the most of your carpet care, you'll be in an excellent position to have carpets that look great and last for years. If this is what you need, take advantage of the information presented below and use it in your home, so that your carpets serve you well.

Buy a Doormat And Use It Frequently

One of the most important steps to caring for the carpet takes place before you even set foot inside of your home. Invest in a high-quality doormat, so that you are able to prevent dirt and debris from being trapped inside your home unnecessarily. By having a high quality welcome doormat, you and your guests will be able to wipe your feet and get rid of dirt that would otherwise end up imbedded into your precious carpets. This allows you to be proactive about your carpet maintenance, rather than reactive.

Treat Spills As Quickly As Possible

The quicker you get rid of any spills on your carpet, the easier it will be to prevent them from setting in. Many people make the mistake of allowing a stain to stay on the carpet for too long, which will damage the fabric and allow the stain to become more deeply embedded. Even before providing a full and thorough cleaning, you should be blotting any potential stains in your carpet to ensure that they don't smudge and become heavily embedded. By blotting these small stains until they are dry, you are preventing serious damage to your carpet. Follow up by applying a serious vacuuming job, to get rid of any moisture that might breed bacteria and mildew.

Get Assistance From Carpet Cleaners

One of the greatest things that you can do for your carpet maintenance is to hire the help of licensed and insured carpet cleaning professionals. These contractors will be able to serve your carpet on an 18 to 24-month basis. By receiving thorough annual maintenance on your carpet, including deep shampoo, thorough cleaning and meticulous maintenance to the carpet fibers, you are protecting your carpet for the long haul and will experience durability from it in the process.

Double Up: Bunks Beds as a Small Room Solution

Having to place children's furniture in a small bedroom presented a problem for me. With two growing kids, I needed a dresser to accommodate both boys, as well as two beds. With two beds, desk and chair, toy chest and floor lamp, the room seemed overly crowded. My solution came with a highly functional bunk bed. Bunk beds take up minimal space. Better yet, my choice was a bunk that included a storage drawer. This compartment is used for storing the boys' small toys and other necessities. I didn't have to have a separate toy chest, so I reduced clutter which was great! When you have multiple children all in one room, you need all the help you can get!
